South East Asia Cruise
In December 2017 we flew to Siem Reap, Cambodia for a brief visit to the Angkor Wat temple complex then on to Singapore for a couple of days before we picked up a cruise that took us to Bangkok, Vietnam and then Christmas in Hong Kong. I hope you enjoy the photos taken...
CAMBODIA - ANGKOR WAT
Angkor Wat means "City of Temples" and it is true. It was built by the Khmer people beginning in the 12th century. Sadly all the houses have rotted away since they were built of wood but the stone temples remain and are gradually being restored after the jungle covered them for centuries. The nearest town is Siem Reap and there we were treated to a visit to a night market and sampled the local fare of fried insects - crunchy and not much taste !

SINGAPORE
We stopped in Singapore for two full days before boarding the ship for the cruise. Singapore is a modern city that continuously keeps rebuilding itself. The latest addition is the Gardens by the Bay which contains huge treelike sculptures and two large greenhouse biomes containing a huge variety of plants. In addition we visited Chinatown and also the large Botanical Gardens.
BANGKOK
The journey to Bangkok was long, it is about a 3 hour journey each way from the port. However it was a worthwhile trip as there were lots of interesting sights when we finally got there .

NONG NOOCH TROPICAL GARDEN, PATTAYA
Nothing will prepare you for this place ! It is nuts! I think the photos tell their own story. I hated the chained up tiger and while the elephants were fascinating and entertaining, I really didn't like their exploitation.

SAIGON (HO CHI MIN CITY) and MEKONG DELTA
Some of these photos were taken through a coach window, so I apologize where the quality is a bit inferior with blur and reflections. The Mekong is the 12th longest river in the world flowing through China, Myanmar (Burma), Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam until it reaches the sea at the large Mekong Delta,

HALONG BAY - VIETNAM
Halong Bay is stunning, so I apologise for the large number of similar photos here. I hope you will view them all. There are some nice sunsets included.

HONG KONG
A dynamic city - they keep reconstructing every year. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day here and packed in as much as we could into a couple of days.
