HOOE LAKE (PLYMOUTH)
Hooe Lake is an inlet of the River Plym, near Turnchapel. Originally it was part of a large estate owned by the Radford family and there is a causeway between Home Lake and Radford Lake on which still stands a folly. The Radford Mansion was demolished years ago and the estate was sold off, but part of it remains as a local park. The area is home to five former quarries including Radford Quarry. I only visited Home Lake and will return to Radford Woods and Lake another day. As can be seen the lake appears to be a graveyard for all sorts of old boats, some of which have been there for over 40 years.
