The PERGAMON MUSEUM in Berlin is famed for its Middle Eastern antiquities including the famous Babylonian Ishtar Gate and processional way of around 575 BC. Unfortunately the huge Pergamon Altar was closed to visitors due to renovations. The queue to enter was horrendous as we didn't know to pre-book tickets. However, once we got inside (after a nearly 2 hour queue) the exhibits are simply stunning.
ISHTAR GATE & PROCESSIONAL WAY
Disappointing because it was mainly covered in scaffolding, but a really spectacular first impression. The colourful glazed tiles are spectacular.
