This plus reading another blog by Rob Sheppard got me thinking - How many times do we look at the big picture for a subject when there are lots of good photos hidden within. I think we get kind of lazy because television and magazines show us their scenes and we don't need to think much, just look. But often the devil is in the detail and you need to look closer. Take any small patch of grass, even a bit of city wasteland, there is much beauty and wonder there if you take time to look. Small flowers and insects are fascinating subjects. So the next time you are bored or tired photographing the same old subjects, have a look around you and linvestigate some detail for inspiration.
I have been grounded this week due to bad weather and recurring sciatica. Initially, I was frustrated at not being able to go out and try my new 18-300mm lens, so I fitted my lovely Nikkor 85mm f3.5 macro lens and ventured out into the garden between showers. My eye was immediately struck by the light glistening on raindrops in the azalea bush. I spent 30 minutes just photographing raindrops on vegetation then I went indoors and took some photographs of house orchids. You can see the results in the OTHER page on this site.
